“We see the wave coming. Now, this time next year, every company has to implement it, not even have a strategy. Implement it.” — Emad Mostaque, founder and CEO, Stability AI
Yesterday, my wife faced a challenge: a friend liked one of her recipes and wanted her to send a copy. Unfortunately, the recipe was originally from an American newspaper.
Our friend is not very fluent in English, especially in the context of cooking, not even considering the necessary unit conversions (oz. to g, degrees F to C, etc.).
My wife and I discussed this challenge over lunch, and I decided to tackle it, as it is a recurring topic with friends and family. Using Google’s Gemini Pro, I whipped up a web page with a prompt of a few sentences, which takes a recipe’s English text as input and converts it into a recipe in German, including the conversion of all units to metric ones.
The problem-solution fit was ascertained during a coffee break, and I promptly shared the link in the family chat (if you’re interested, try it yourself here).
As mundane as this example is, AI and Vibe Coding are revolutionizing product prototyping and development. Prototypes can be built from existing designs or from scratch in minutes, ultimately enabling faster exploration of ideas and gathering user feedback.
This week’s podcast episode offers an in-depth look at how AI is reshaping product development and design in early 2025 based on recent insights from Lenny’s Newsletter and UX Collective. Jane and Austin delve into Noah Levin’s (of Figma) concept of ‚ceiling and floor‘ in design, illustrating how AI is reducing entry barriers and expanding designers‘ capabilities.
They identify three primary categories of AI tools: chatbots (such as Claude and ChatGPT), Cloud Development Environments (including V0, Bolt, Replit, and Lovable), and local developer support tools (like GitHub Copilot and Cursor). The conversation highlights how these tools enable rapid prototyping, with examples demonstrating that a simple CRM can be constructed in just minutes using various platforms.
The hosts emphasize that AI tools are enabling the development of functioning prototypes within hours, rather than weeks, significantly altering the product development landscape through the ‚reverse double diamond‘ method.
