“ ‚Unlearn‘ – To move away from the mindsets and behaviors that were effective in the past, but now limit our success.“ Barry O’Reilly – Business Advisor and Venture Builder

Dear all,

with a storm raging over large parts of Europe, I thought it might be a nice idea to cuddle up at home and watch some videos.

With the new season of ‚Bridgerton‘ only becoming available end of March, here are some programming alternatives that may keep you entertained for the meantime:

The first video has product management luminary Marty Cagan (author of the best sellers ‚Inspired‘ and ‚Empowered‘) dissect the root causes for product failure and sketch an alternative course to avoid it. I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a few deja vus while watching this presentation.

The second video features Melissa Perri explaining how to get out of the ‚build trap‘. A former Product Manager herself, Perri is very familiar with the ever faster churning out of features with no measure of success, let alone a learning loop. In her talk she suggests actionable changes to three internal factors – process, strategy, and culture – in order to become truly customer-centric and focused on outcomes.

The last video presents Teresa Torres (author of 5-star-rated ‚Continuous Discovery Habits: Discover Products that Create Customer Value and Business Value’) laying out the „What and why of continuous discovery”; providing lively examples of how continuous interviewing and building Opportunity Solution Trees with prototypes and experiments leads to better outcomes faster. Enlightening!

Applying the ideas from the videos may help fend off another perfect storm I can see brewing over many of our product projects…
