“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” Charles M. Schulz, Creator of the “Peanuts”
With Christmas just around the corner, I would like to recommend some longer reads for the holidays, as every year.
The first book by Walter Isaacson explores the stories of the pioneers who created the digital technologies we have today. Since Christmas ultimately represents hope, I chose the second book by Peter Diamandis to optimistically discuss how we can utilize these capabilities to create a better future, even in times when outlooks seem bleak.
Enough to keep you occupied during a couple of days with bad weather.
The Innovators
This exciting digitalization saga by Walter Isaacson (biographer of DaVinci, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk, among others) begins with Ada Lovelace, who pioneered computer programming in the 1840s and leads us through one and a half centuries of tech history to Google’s Larry Page.
The Future is Faster than You Think
Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler explore the potential of AI, robotics, and gene editing to revolutionize everything from education to manufacturing—Silicon Valley-style techno-optimism – but maybe just what we need a little more of.
